We have been closely monitoring Hurricane Matthew over the last week and this morning Matthew continues to strengthen and is now considered a Major Category Three Hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 115 mph. Matthew is currently moving to the southwest around 12 mph, but is expected to make a hard north turn over the weekend. The track of the storm will likely pass between Haiti and Jamaica on Monday morning before likely making a direct landfall in Cuba on Tuesday. The storm could strengthen slightly before making landfall in Cuba though the wind speeds are expected to remain near 115 mph prior to landfall. The landfall in Cuba will likely weaken Matthew slightly though it will still remain a strong hurricane. By Wednesday morning Matthew will likely be a few hundred miles off the eastern Florida coast. The track after this is still unknown though by Sunday we should have a better idea of where the storm will be headed. The east coast of the US will want to watch this storm closely as it could be a threat late next week if the storm isn’t pushed out to sea. We will continue to provide daily updates on this storm.
