Tropical Storm Hermine to Impact Florida, Georgia and the Carolina’s

Tropical Storm Hermine formed in the Gulf of Mexico this afternoon and is expect to impact areas of the Eastern US from Florida all the way into the Carolina’s.  The storm currently has wind speeds of near 40 mph and is expected to increase over the coming days before making landfall on the gulf coast of Florida.  Below is a state by state look at the impacts of the system.

Florida

Landfall in Florida will likely be sometime late Thursday into Friday and will likely be between Tallahassee and Gainesville.  The storm at the time of landfall will have winds between 60-70 mph.  Some areas of Florida will receive as much as 6-10 inches of rain from this storm.

Georgia

This storm will likely skirt the eastern coast of Georgia bringing rain of 4-6 inches to the eastern part of the state.  The winds can be expected to be between 50-60 mph.  This storm will likely track through southeast Georgia Friday morning before pushing into the Atlantic.

South Carolina

This storm will likely just skirt the coast of South Carolina late Friday into early Saturday morning bringing winds of 50-60 mph and rain if the amount of 4-6 inches with some local amounts of 6-10 inches.

North Carolina

This storm will likely affect North Carolina on Friday night into Saturday morning bringing 6-10 inches of rain to the southeastern coast and the outer banks and 4-6 inches to the coastal plains region.  Winds of 50-60 mph can be expected for parts of eastern NC and the outer banks.
