Severe weather this week has already brought its fair share of damage and injuries to the Central United States and today it will only continue. As of 2 pm storms are already beginning to fire up and the storms will likely continue into the evening and night hours. The NWS has placed an moderate risk for portions of Central Kansas. Also in the crosshairs today is portions of Nebraska, Iowa, Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas and Colorado which are under either an enhanced or slight outlook. The biggest threats today will be tornadoes and large hail. Areas of Kansas have already seen 3 inch hail earlier this week and today could be just as bad. The tornado threat for today in parts of Kansas, Oklahoma and Nebraska is “significant”, which is the highest rating possible. The chance for severe hail today is also “significant” for these areas as well as Parts of Texas and Colorado. These storms today will need to be watched closely.
