TROPICAL STORM JOANQUIN IN THE ATLANTIC COULD AFFECT EAST COAST

Tropical Storm Joaquin formed over night in the Atlantic Ocean from what was Tropical Depression Eleven.  This storm currently has winds of 35 mph with gusts to 45.  The system is still not very organized, but it looks to be getting it’s act together over the coming week.  The system will be slow moving and the models aren’t really agreeing right now on what Joanquin will do in the coming week, which is normal considering any possible landfall would be 5-7 days out.  The most likely scenario at this moment is looking like this system will make an eastward turn curve out to sea, before being pushed back into the coast near New York and New Jersey.  This is our best guess based on the models.  The GFS model is currently showing this system being pushed out to sea where as the hurricane models are pushing this inward toward the NJ, NY & CT coastlines. We should have a better grip on the situation in the coming days as the models agree more on what the storm is going to do and what the driving factors are going to be for this system. This system will have the opportunity to develop and we are giving this about a 40-50% chance of becoming a hurricane over the next 7 days.  Please be sure to check back to our site frequently as we will be updating on this system as well as any other severe weather.  Also be sure to like us on Facebook and use the social media sharing buttons above to share this with your friends and family.
