Hurricane Danny is officially the first hurricane of the Atlantic 2015 season. Danny currently has maximum sustained winds of 75 mph making it a weak category 1 hurricane. It is currently moving west-northwest at 12 mph. Hurricane force winds only extend 10 miles from the center and tropical storm force winds extend 60 miles from the center. Danny is currently expected to remain a hurricane through the weekend with some strengthening before likely being reduced to a tropical storm early next week due to an increase in wind shear near Puerto Rico. Most of the models show Danny being torn apart before it could ever reach the US, but this is subject to change because Danny would still likely be a week out from anything like that. Puerto Rico will likely see a strong tropical storm or weak hurricane Monday or Tuesday. Like us on Facebook to stay up to date on severe weather and Hurricane Danny.
