Tropical storm warnings have been issued for coastal areas of North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. Tropical Storm Warnings were also issued for Florida earlier yesterday and Tropical Storm Colin is expected to make landfall in Florida sometime between 7-8 p.m. tonight near Tallahassee. Once making landfall in Florida Colin will cross into the Atlantic and brush the coastline of Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina with winds between 50-60 mph. Colin will progress quickly and should be completely off the Carolina coast sometime tomorrow evening. HEAVY RAINFALL IS EXPECTED AND A FLASH FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT. RAINFALL AMOUNTS WILL VARY CONSIDERABLY ACROSS THE AREA WITH THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS ALONG THE COAST. INLAND LOCATIONS WILL AVERAGE 1 TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN WHILE COASTAL LOCALES SHOULD NET 3 TO 5 INCHES. LOCALIZED HIGHER AMOUNTS WILL BE POSSIBLE. ROUGH SURF AND A HIGH RISK OF RIP CURRENTS CAN BE EXPECTED ALONG THE ENTIRE COAST OF SOUTH CAROLINA AND SOUTHEASTERN NORTH CAROLINA TONIGHT INTO EARLY TOMORROW. A SMALL TORNADO RISK EXISTS TONIGHT AND TUESDAY MORNING MAINLY ALONG THE IMMEDIATE COAST. POTENTIAL IMPACTS ----------------- * FLOODING RAIN: PROTECT AGAINST LOCALLY HAZARDOUS RAINFALL FLOODING HAVING POSSIBLE LIMITED IMPACTS ACROSS SOUTHEAST NORTH CAROLINA AND NORTHEAST SOUTH CAROLINA. POTENTIAL IMPACTS INCLUDE: - LOCALIZED FLOODING FROM RAINFALL MAY OCCUR, ESPECIALLY IN LOW-LYING AND POOR DRAINAGE AREAS. SOME RIVERS AND CREEKS MAY RISE AS A RESULT OF THE RAIN.
