Tropical Depression Nine Forms in Gulf Likely to Become Tropical Storm

We are now in the peak of the Atlantic hurricane season and it is definitely showing, as there are 3 storms we are currently monitoring in the Atlantic and Gulf.  Tropical Depression Nine formed this evening in the Gulf of Mexico a few hundred miles south of Florida.  This system is expected to strengthen over the coming days and become a Tropical Storm by Monday.  This system currently has 35 mph winds and is expected to strengthen to at least 50-60 mph winds before it likely makes landfall on the western coast of Florida sometime Thursday.  This storm could bring as much as 5 inches of rain to areas of Florida.  We will continually monitor this system and provide updates over the coming days as this storm will likely be making landfall along the Gulf coast of Florida.

If you would like to stay up to date on these systems and future systems be sure to like us on Facebook and download the Atlantic Hurricane Tracker on Android and Apple devices.
