Severe weather will be likely on Sunday for portions of Eastern North Carolina and Virginia. The current outlook has an enhanced risk for much of the area with a slight risk for the surrounding area. An enhanced risk means that numerous severe storms will be possible while a slight risk means that scattered severe storms will be possible. Going into Sunday we expect there to be the possibility of damaging winds, severe hail and possibly some tornadoes. The early morning will be fairly quiet, but as we move into the afternoon and evening hours storms will likely begin to fire up as the sun heats the atmosphere creating instability that will be needed to fuel these storms. We will likely provide the next update Sunday morning at 8 am with the full breakdown of what is to be expected from these storms.
