This Afternoon will bring a moderate potential to parts of North Carolina and Virginia today as the system that brought damaging winds, tornadoes and severe hail to parts of the southeast yesterday will push through North Carolina today. The major threat today will be damaging winds with the possiblity of tornadoes. The main threat areas will be those in the Raleigh, Rocky Mount and Goldsboro areas as these areas will potentially see the worst weather today, though any of the surrounding areas should stay weather aware as well as anyone in the southeastern US. The NWS categorizes a moderate threat as potential life threatening storms or severe damage with these storms.
