Hurricane Matthew Forms in the Atlantic- East Coast Should Watch Closely

Hurricane Matthew formed in the Atlantic Ocean today and currently has winds of near 75 mph. The storm is expected to strengthen over the coming days and could be a possible threat to the east coast. The system is currently moving at 20 mph to the west but is expected to make a hard north turn over the weekend. This storm should be watched as a possible threat to the east coast late next week though it is to early to determine the long term track of this system. We will likely have a more definitive idea of the track of this storm later this weekend. The models are currently mixed on the track of this system though some show this impacting the east coast others are pushing it out to sea without any impacts on the US mainland. We will provide updates daily on this system.
